Situation
Michael Becka, who is responsible for data privacy and whistleblowing at the Austrian Federal Forestry Office, explains: A whistleblowing reporting channel was already introduced at the Federal Forestry Office at the end of 2021. The goal was to provide employees with a whistleblower system that enables simple, digital, and, above all, anonymous reporting.
Solution
To meet these requirements, Austrian Federal Forests AG uses the whistleblowing module of the AKARION Compliance Cloud. After testing several solutions, the decision ultimately fell on Akarion because the ACC offers the best value for money. Currently, the module in use perfectly meets the legal requirements. Should any changes arise on the part of the legislature, the module can be easily adapted to the revised legal situation.
In addition to the whistleblowing module, the ACC’s data protection module could also become of interest to Bundesforste in the future, Becka adds, as compliance with national and international data protection regulations is constantly being refined. The whistleblowing module can be easily combined with the other modules of the Compliance Cloud as needed.
“From the Federal Forestry Office’s perspective, the decision to work with a cloud solution was forward-looking and in line with current industry trends,” Michael Becka elaborates.
It was important to the Federal Forestry Agency that the servers, such as those from Akarion, be located in Europe.
Result
“The whistleblowing tool is very clearly structured and intuitive,” explains Becka, who believes that even people with little experience using this type of software can familiarize themselves with the module extremely quickly. Especially since personal inquiries to Akarion were handled promptly and always with productive results. The available user manual and the content in the Compliance Cloud’s Help Center are also very helpful.
